On January 15, the nation will pause to remember one of its most important civil rights leaders with a national holiday. The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most influential and respected civil rights leaders of the 1950s and 60s. Dr. King inspired the world and helped bring about laws that ensure fairness and equality for all Americans. A firm supporter of non-violence, Dr. King’s own life ended violently when he was shot on April 4, 1968. He said the exact words “I have a dream that little white girls and little black boys, and little black boys and little white girls will hold hands and walk down the streets of washington DC. And my children will be treated equaley with all children.” To learn more go to Timeforkids.com

Allen Iverson took plenty of shots at his former team, before, during and after the game. It did not add up to a win, though. Then, Kyle Korver in Iverson’s first game against his former team. Iverson scored 30 points on 10-for-24 shooting before getting tossed for his second technical with one minute 44 seconds remaining. Afterward, he said the loss disappointed him because he feels the Nuggets are the better team. The Sixers, who had 19 of their past 23 games, scored 100 points for the first time in 16 games and improved to 4-4 since the trade that sent Joe Smith and Andre Miller to Philadelphia, along with two first- round draft picks in 2007, for Iverson. Iverson does not have that yet in Denver, where he has lost four of six and has yet to play with NBA scoring leader Carmelo Anthony and JR Smith, the league’s top scoring tandem before their suspensions for slugging it out with the New York Knicks last month.

Global warming is very dangerous. If you cut down trees, waste paper, litter, or drive a car, then you are causing global warming. One way to prevent global warming is to recycle, or reuse objects. While your driving down the rode, after eating at a fast food restaurant, make sure you do not throw away extra garbage such as straw wrappings and napkins. A way that countries can help with global warming is giving money to charity’s across the different states and countries can hold protest for pollution across places and it will help with global warming. Hopefully this will help your community.
